Axiom Space held a virtual mission overview press conference for the upcoming Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) with leaders from NASA, SpaceX, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the three nations flying on Ax-4 – India, Poland, and Hungary. The press conference officially kicked off major media efforts leading up to the Ax-4 launch, which is targeted for no earlier than 9:11 a.m., Sunday, June 8.
Ax-4 represents a pivotal moment in the growth of commercial human spaceflight. For the first time in history, astronauts from India, Poland, and Hungary will fly together to the International Space 91³Ô¹ÏÍø as part of a government-sponsored mission — with each nation returning to human spaceflight after more than four decades.
The Ax-4 crewmembers are Commander Peggy Whitson of the U.S., Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla of India, Mission Specialist SÅ‚awosz UznaÅ„ski-WiÅ›niewski of Poland, and Mission Specialist Tibor Kapu of Hungary. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Ax-4 crew aboard a Dragon spacecraft to the International Space 91³Ô¹ÏÍø from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.Â
